Calvin Welch Monk, 75, of Spanish Fork died Wednesday, October 23, 2002. He passed away peacefully
at home of causes incident to age. He was born December 13, 1926 in Cowley, Wyoming, to Thomas and Chloe Monk.
He married Norma Belmont June 25, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Calvin served in the army during World War II. He was a member of the LDS Church where he served in
various positions including Bishop and High Councilman. He served a mission with his wife, Norma, in the Lansing Michigan
Mission. He started the Spanish Fork Dry Pack Cannery which he ran for numerous years. Calvin enjoyed working with horses
and this led him to start a family business manufacturing animal care products. Countless lasting friendships were formed
through this association. He enjoyed flying and was a licensed pilot. He loved to travel. This passion took him to many
different parts of the world where fond memories and good friends were made along the way. His genuine personality
enabled him to reach people and make friends easily. He had a sparkling smile and generous nature.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Norma; their six children: Wendie (Phil) Whitehead, Carol (Davis)
Moore, Randy Monk, Lori (Keith) Warner, Vince (Sylvia) Monk, Richard (Ann) Monk; two sisters, Mary Cloward and Beulah
(Lee) Simmons; a brother, Coulam (Janis) Monk; a sister-in-law, Melva Monk; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jones Monk.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 28, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Canyon Ridge Church, 989 S.
2550 East, Spanish Fork. Friends and family may call Sunday evening 6-8 p.m. at Walker Family Mortuary, 187 S. Main Street,
Spanish Fork, and at the church on Monday 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City
Cemetery with military honors by Spanish Fork American Legion.
